August 16th Lima Day 13

Another drizzly morning in Lima, which must have upset a few people with items on their roofs.

After breakfast, I drove the SWB Land Rover to IPEN, and carried out setting up the electronics inside the vehicle. Meanwhile, Uisdean took the LWB to the Land Rover agents for a service (didn’t get it back until the end of the day). When I finished setting the equipment, as far as I could, I then went to the Signal office to check on mail, and leave a slide film for the office to post, before heading back to the Sheraton for lunch. Meanwhile Uisdean had been searching Lima for a shop with the nuts and bolts I needed, but without success. We met up at lunchtime, after which Uisdean headed off to the Signal office.

After lunch, I started to sort out my gear in my room, in anticipation of leaving Lima. Uisdean and the consultant arrived back at the Sheraton later, having been involved in more discussions at the Signal office. I think we all ate at the Sheraton that evening.

Now starting to see that we would be finished preparing for work in the field very soon. Tentatively set for the 18th to leave Lima.
