August 11th Lima Day 8
Another hazy but mild day in Lima.
After breakfast, I’m beginning to like pancakes (American style) with bacon and egg ‘easy-over’, I picked up SWB Land Rover from Sheraton basement and drove to the Signal office with Uisdean & consultant. Now we were starting to worry about Land Rover spares and what camping gear would be needed as the feeling was that some camping would be involved in the fieldwork. Next, I drove to Eric’s in the LWB (really getting to grips with the local streets and driving on the right!), collected vital vehicle hire documents and stayed there for lunch.
After lunch drove back to the Sheraton, and Land Rover dealer, to get a spare wheel for the LWB, but not available. The LWB now has the roof rack fitted, and there was a rather tricky moment parking it in the Sheraton underground car park as it only just fitted under the roof!
I had a bit of spare time after that and walked past the Plaza Miguel Grau to the Art Museum (here is a link) close to the Sheraton, and had a good look round (no pics inside).
It’s becoming clear that quite a few more days are needed before we can venture into the field as lots to do with the equipment – and we haven’t got it out of the airport yet!
After that ate evening meal at the Sheraton with Uisdean.
