August 9th Lima Day 6

Weather still a bit hazy at breakfast time.

This was one of the rather uninteresting days with, initially with Uisdean, a visit to the Signal office (driving the SWB Land Rover), then on to IPEN. At IPEN we had a discussion about how to obtain maps., apparently always tricky in Peru. Uisdean and consultant plus IPEN representative then went to the Ministry of Transport (taxi) to obtain maps. Meanwhile I drove back to the Signal Office from IPEN and learned that the equipment cargo had arrived at Lima Airport on the 5th! When Uisdean arrived back at the Signal office with some maps and aerial photos, we spent some time reviewing these.

The other development was the arrival at Sheraton Hotel of our Long Wheelbase (LWB) Land Rover, and I took a taxi back to central Lima to check it out and then drove it to Eric’s house (to show off the Land Rover), before returning to the hotel. I think Uisdean must have driven the other Land Rover back to the Sheraton later.

No photos – too busy going backwards and forwards! No idea where we ate that evening, probably at the hotel.
